Can I Forgive Myself and Others?

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.  If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
-Mother Teresa

Can I forgive others for what they have done to me or to others? Can I forgive my past as to what I have done to others?

Can I forgive?

It is when I forgive I heal and I give others the opportunity to heal as well. Forgiveness is the act of unconditional love and not much in the way of words is required but much is required in the willingness to do God’s work. It is easier to forgive those we love but much more difficult to forgive those who we think are our enemies.
Can I forgive them as well?

The question arises here as to how committed I am to carrying the vision of God’s will into all my activities. How committed am I to getting free and bringing love where love doesn’t seem to exist.

Lastly when I ask for forgiveness, I want to be forgiven instantly and have my wrongs disappear as if they never happened. Can I be that way when someone asks me for forgiveness?

God does, and He gives us His Power to do so as well.

Blessings,
Peter Marinelli
